Courses

The Most Profitable Business On the Internet

It has been said by many an entrepreneur that online courses are THE most profitable way to earn money online. Bar none. There are SO many advantages to creating courses for the public.

Many, many. Not just for the entrepreneur, but for those who purchase the courses as well.

So, let’s talk about that in this article.

I love … love… LOVE internet courses. I love creating them. I love designing them. I love teaching them. I love helping people with them.

Online Courses – The New, Modern, & More Effective Education Method

Courses can range in price from free all the way up to thousands of dollars. Modern education proponents are quick to let you know that they are not only MUCH cheaper than a college education but can teach you more valuable skills as well.

These are skills that you can often use in the “real” world to make “real” money.

It really depends on the topic, of course. Anyone can create courses on just about anything. So, there are a few things to keep in mind if you are interested in learning this trade.

What to Remember When Creating Online Courses

First of all, it needs to be something you are interested in, at least, and passionate about, at best. Anything you do in your online business needs to be something you could talk about for hours. Something you never get tired of.

Something that never feels like work because you enjoy it so much. A Job that feels like a hobby. Courses are no exception to this rule.

But second of all, it needs to be something that is in a “profitable” niche. Because not all markets are profitable. For example, I have always been interested in certain areas of science, dreams, philosophy, etc. But in retrospect, those are not the most profitable niches to go after.

They might be interesting to me, but they are not interesting to everyone. Not only that, they are more for entertainment. They are not considered urgent topics that solve crucial problems.

Have You Ever Solved a Serious Problem?

This is important. One of the best ways to know if something is going to be profitable is to ask yourself if it solves a serious problem. It could be a financial problem. Perhaps it is a relationship problem. Or it might be a health problem.

Health, Wealth, and Relationships are well known to be the three most profitable niches of all. This is because they all have absolute problems in need of effective solutions or results.

All of my mentors have told me the same thing when it comes to creating courses. What is the end RESULT that you can promise and deliver? It is this, without question, that will most determine the success of what you are teaching to others.

Tools You Need to Have A Course Business

When it comes to creating courses, there are a few tools that you must have. For one thing, you must have recording software and a speaker. I use Camtasia software and a Blue Yeti microphone. But there are many others to choose from.

Another thing you must have is a place to host your videos. YouTube is the most well-known, but they don’t allow for long videos unless you get a tremendous amount of traffic. This is why you would typically need to purchase a hosting package where you can store and share your videos.

And finally, you need a platform to sell your video courses on. I use a membership site with software called Click Funnels. But again, there are others.

Some are more expensive and some are less expensive. Kajabi is another great course platform. It is a little bit more expensive but has a great reputation among entrepreneurs.

I love Click Funnels because it gives me lots of options to incorporate landing pages, sales funnels, and so much more into my business. Besides just a membership site.

What Will Your Course Be About?

Once you have all of your tools in place, the next thing you would want to do is outline your course. Remember, the end goal needs to be an effective result.

You are taking them on a journey from “where they are” to “where they want to be.” If you can share information that is so valuable that it will save time, help them earn money, or solve a daunting problem, then you have a winning idea.

Besides just the course itself, though, you also need to market that course correctly. This means you need other tools, software, and systems in place to bring people into your business, nurture them, and convert them into sales.

Making Your Courses Look Professional

In past years, many have succeeded with courses that had nothing more in the videos than a few words. I personally have too much of an interest in design and professionalism to settle for this. I prefer courses with creative colors and contrast. And of course, beautiful, eye-catching, or educational photos.

In my courses, I also incorporate screenshot demonstration videos. As a digital marketer, desktop demonstrations are extremely valuable because I can “show” my customers, step-by-step, how to do something.

Technology Courses – Good or Bad?

Where technology is involved, this is extremely invaluable. But here’s the catch. Technology is always changing, so if you go into that niche, you need to be prepared to update your courses often. The good news is that there is a high demand for instructional videos to help the average person keep up with those same changes.

In other words, this is highly profitable.

Now you may be wondering, isn’t there TOO much competition in these niches? And the answer is yes and no. Yes – there is a LOT of competition in the wealth niche. But no – not if you niche down into specific sub-niches.

Niching Down to Less Competition

Sub-niches allow you to focus on a narrow sliver of a larger audience. In other words, you can become the big fish in a smaller sea. As I have mentioned in other articles, this was a challenge for me to focus on just one small sliver of the whole wide world.

But – as many successful marketers have been quoted as saying, “The riches are in the niches.”

Here’s an example. Wealth is HUGE. Internet marketing (as opposed to real estate or the stock market) is one sub-niche. However, that is still a large space.

Narrowing it down, even more, there are freelancers. But some freelancers do transcriptions. Others do phone calls. Still, others write articles. And then there are those who write emails, design websites, build sales funnels, and so much more.

My market is narrowed down to those who want to learn how to create digital products or need to hire someone who can create digital products for them. I often niche down even further by going into groups with specific audiences that I would like to work with.

For example, I like to work with introverts because I understand the challenges of going public and getting on camera. I am always looking for effective alternatives to live streaming videos. And I want to share that with my audience.

How Can You Best Help Others with Online Courses?

But the bottom line is this? What problems have you learned to solve? There may be others who still don’t understand how to fix such challenges. Have you figured out ways to lose weight? To eliminate back pain? To heal from breakups? To be a better parent?

I hope you can see the endless possibilities. If you can solve substantial problems for a certain group of people, then chances are they will be HAPPY to pay you for it!
