Why Videos Are Critical For Your Online Business

As I’m sure you are aware, videos are an extremely critical part of marketing online. Let’s face it. People love videos. They love entertainment. And they love education and inspiration.

Marketing consists of a wide variety of video styles, and each style has its unique purpose. We are going to go over the different types of videos here, and the role each one plays in the world of businesses.

The Live Streaming Movie Videos

It is no secret in my world that this is my least type of video in marketing. It is also widely known as being one of the “easiest” and most “effective” video strategies in the world of business.

Well, all I can say is yes, it is easy for some people and effective for many people and the reasons depend solely on their personalities. If you are the type of person that loves to be on camera and loves to reach out and entertain others, then yes, this is easy.

And if you have one of those charismatic and entertaining personalities, then this method is most definitely effective.

But if, on the other hand, you are more introverted and not a fan of being the center of attention, then this method is anything but easy. And if you are shy and somewhat socially awkward in your ways and for your reasons, then this is less effective.

When Live Streaming Is Effective

But for the right person with the right personality, the reason it is so effective is because of what is widely known as the “know, like, and trust” factor.

Let’s face it. People are more likely to trust someone they can see and hear, rather than someone who hides in anonymity. Even introverts like myself are more likely to trust someone we can see and hear. And even introverts like to be entertained by the extroverts.

We like to follow extroverts just like everyone else. It is just more challenging for us to “be” that person. And although this is a method that I do avoid as much as possible, I would never discourage anyone from becoming more confident on camera for that exact reason.

It simply works.

My method of utilizing this strategy is to create a few pre-recorded “movie” videos and place them strategically in certain places. For example, on my website, inside of my welcome posts, and at the beginning of my courses.

This way, people don’t feel like I am hiding. They do get to know me and trust me more. And hopefully, like me as well!

The Educational Slide Videos

The “slide” videos that I create with PowerPoint, are some of my favorites to create. They are also effective. In different ways and for different reasons.

Slide videos are great if you don’t like the camera but have a strong voice. But it is important to point out that nobody has that strong voice when first starting out. In marketing, there is a popular saying that entrepreneurs need to “find their voice.” And this is so true.

It takes time.

But it does happen eventually and with enough practice.

Slide videos are excellent if you love to teach and create. Some people do well with blank slides that have nothing on them but a few words.

I prefer the more professional, designed look. After taking many different courses on “how to create courses,” I have come to develop my style, which is a combination of a few different things.

I do like to have and create design “templates” before I start on a course. And then I go back and add words, images, and sometimes videos.

The Best Types Of Images

The best types of images are illustration images. I don’t mean drawings. What I mean is unique images that illustrate what you are trying to teach. Such as charts and graphs. Or examples.

But using people in your slide images is great for conveying emotions, actions, and behaviors. So I use them as well.

Now, it goes without saying (but I will say it anyway), that it is critical that you only use images that you have the right to use. You can use either your images or images that come from royalty-free sites.

But these types of videos are fantastic for education and even entertainment purposes. You can give them away (to establish trust and build relationships.) And you can sell them.

Most entrepreneurs will give away short “what to do” types of educational videos.

But the more detailed “how to do it” videos are typically sold for an additional cost because they have so much more value.

Screen Capture Videos

These types of videos are what I call “demonstration” videos, but they are not physical demonstrations. (We will get to that next.)

Screen capture videos instead, demonstrate what is on your computer. For example, if you want to demonstrate how to use a specific type of software, you would create a screen capture video.

These videos are extremely helpful and educational in the world of technology. Because let’s face it, none of us are immune to technical difficulties and challenges.

The world we live in is always changing at a rapid pace. Software is at the forefront of those accelerated changes. This is the blessing and the curse of an online business.

It is a curse because whatever we do online is quickly outdated. This means that we are constantly challenged with needing to “update” our courses. This is especially true for courses that are centered around any type of technology or software.

The Advantages of Technology Businesses

The blessing of having this type of business is that it is always in high demand. Not one of us has been immune to the experience of waking up, signing onto our phone or computer, and discovering that something “updated” and everything looks different.

This is extremely frustrating to the average person. Learning curves are fun when something is new, but they are a major aggravation when you didn’t “choose” to learn something new and are instead, being forced to do so.

The entrepreneur who can get ahead of this curve, learn how to navigate, and teach these “updated changes” are the first to get noticed on video platforms. Why? Because those “average” people are searching for answers and instructions.

If your video is the one to show up with the solution to this unexpected “problem,” then your business will get noticed, subscribed to, and bookmarked.

Physical Demonstration Videos

Another type of demonstration video is of the “physical” kind. This is the type of video you see when someone is physically showing you how to do something.

Some great examples are fitness, cooking, exercise, dog grooming, etc.

It is pretty much for anything that a person needs to physically teach and show another person. It is kind of like the movie live streaming videos in the sense that you need to get on camera.

But it is different because instead of just talking to people, you are actively performing some type of action. And showing others how to do the same.

If you have a weight loss or exercise type of business, these videos are gold to you. People who are trying to solve these types of problems are willing and eager to find people to show them how to do exactly that.

Once again, if a potential customer goes searching for this type of information on a video platform and your video shows up in the search, then your business is the one to get the attention. And therefore, the business.

Animated Cartoon Style Videos

I love these videos because of their creative abilities. You don’t need to be artistic to do these types of videos with the right software. I am very familiar with these software programs, so I clearly understand that they are not nearly as difficult as you might think.

But to someone who does not recognize or realize the ease of creation, these types of videos are mind-blowing and leave your potential customer thinking, “That’s incredible! How did they do that?”

The effectiveness of these videos depends on the talent, delivery, and copywriting in the videos. Some of them use voiceovers, and some of them just use words and music. Either is effective if done correctly.

Because what matters the most is the message. This is where good copywriting is critical. If you can turn animated videos into a “story” that captures people’s attention, they will listen. And if they relate to the problems of the people in the story and long for the solutions, then your video did its job.

The idea is to get across the message that you understand them and their problem, and you can help them find a solution. As you will hear me say quite often, getting them to desire the “result” is key in good copywriting. And more importantly, in great products and courses.

I love these videos but the bottom line is that the script is most important. After that, the delivery of that script is critical as well. For example, you can’t sound boring or hard to understand. You need to be able to deliver the message in a way that sounds energetic and entertaining.

Once you get all of that down, these videos are fun and fantastic for your business.

Inspirational Videos

Again, I love these types of videos. People love to be inspired by beautiful music and photos. Especially when that is coupled with a motivational or inspirational message.

These videos are not designed to sell, but more to provide value. They are designed to lift your audience emotionally to a higher level. To make them feel better.

They are ideal for helping to establish trust. And they are fantastic for brand awareness. They work well in businesses that revolve around emotional healing, spirituality, or just plain motivation.

If you can keep your audience “feeling good” and motivated to take action, keep going, and not give up, then this will have an impact on the results.

I don’t know if you can build a business around “just” doing inspirational videos, but they can be an effective and additional asset.

Learn to Create Your Videos

New software is coming out all the time, making video creation more and more fun. Of course, I don’t know all of them, but it is by far one of my favorite things to learn. And one of the most effective ways to grow any business.

I am always learning and sharing what I learn inside of my courses. If you would like to learn video creation, be sure and join my community and I will let you know how to do exactly that.

But if you would prefer to just have someone else create them for you, I can either do that for you or direct you to someone who can.
